The MSU Denver Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) is uniquely designed for MSU Denver students and meets the MSU Denver Insurance requirements.

SHIP gives you the coverage you need being a student, including reputable hospitals, doctors, specialists and behavioral healthcare. In addition, SHIP provides support to make the healthcare process easier to understand with online tools, discount programs, and people you can talk to when you have to make important decisions, such as worldwide travel assistance. 

Student Health Insurance Requirement

For any student taking 9 or more credits during the Fall or Spring Semester, there is a Domestic Student Requirement and a International Student Requirement.  Students taking 9 or more credits are automatically enrolled in the University Student Health Insurance Plan SHIP and charged the semester premium. Domestic students who are currently insured with a compliant U.S. issued health insurance plan can submit a health insurance waiver by the deadline each semester to avoid automatic enrollment and being charged for the SHIP premium. 

Accessing Care

When you are insured by SHIP, it’s helpful to read and understand Accessing Healthcare on SHIP.  There are a number of benefits included with the SHIP plan.  Some of those include access to hundreds of hospitals and medical offices in Colorado and nationwide, 100% coverage for services received at the Health Center at Auraria, as well as 24/7 access to telehealth and telebehavioral health care.

It’s important to understand the requirement, assess the SHIP Benefits and know the Coverage Dates, Premiums & Deadlines so you can be informed about the Insurance Plan. There are also Special Coverages for Summer, Graduating and Graduate Students.
